The Tonle Sap Lake is Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake and is home to one of the world’s most productive ecosystems. The lake’s rich biodiversity helps support many fishing communities who live in homes built upon wooden stilts to avoid seasonal flooding. A visit to the stilted villages of Tonle Sap Lake provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Cambodians who are deeply connected to the rhythms of the lake.
Cu Chi Tunnels
An extensive underground network stretching over 200 kilometers (approx. 120 miles), these tunnels served as living quarters, supply routes, and hiding spots for Vietnamese soldiers during the Vietnam War. Today, visitors can explore sections of the tunnel, learn about wartime life, and see the ingenious traps used during the conflict. For a small fee, you can also use the firing range, shooting live rounds from guns used in the war.
